Kris Martin

Born in Kortrijk, Belgium in 1972.
Lives and works in Ghent, Belgium.
“A very important aspect of my work is a small percentage of wits, something stupid, something idiotic. It makes it edible. It makes it digestible.”

Kris Martin’s practices are conceptual and poetic, attaching a particular importance to the concept of time, often by attempting to mark, halt or transcend its inevitable passing; this intangible, relative and implacable notion that we all depend on but barely grasp the real sense of it. The artist’s work engage in humankind’s most fundamental issues with a wry sense of humour, where his means of expression revolve around different disciplines; from sculptures to drawing, photography and performances.
